About Goonbell Guitar Repairs
Goonbell Guitar Repairs was set up in 2019 by me, Simon Roberts, but I've been playing, building and trading guitars, basses and amplifiers since the early 1990s when I built my first guitar, an Explorer style electric which I still use today!

In the 2000s I worked at the prestigious Vintage & Rare Guitars in Bath where I began setting up and repairing guitars under the tutelage of legendary luthier Andy Manners. During my time at V&R I wrote reviews and articles for guitar magazines, built my first valve amp, taught guitar, did live sound at The Porter music venue, did a stint as a guitar tech and played guitar with the rock band Countermine.

These days as well as doing repairs, I'm a busy gigging musician and play bass in a 3-piece rock band Fastlane and guitar in a 5-piece country band Second Hand Country Band. We're always playing at venues all over the South West, including weddings, festivals, pubs and holiday parks, so check out our webpages and social media now for videos and gig listings and come see us!

Other recent musical projects include playing bass in a Rage Against the Machine tribute Renegades and putting on the music festival Aggie Solstice in 2019 which showcased the talents of a dozen St Agnes bands and artists. I'm also fully involved with the local music scene and do live sound at St Agnes Miners and Mechanics Institute and other venues in the area.
